Newcrest Mining Limited - Normal Operations resume at Lihir

MELBOURNE,Victoria, Aug. 29, 2012 /CNW/ - Normal operations resumed last night, 28 August, at the Lihir mine following resolution of a dispute lodged by the landowners' association, LMALA, which required production be suspended on Sunday night.
A meeting was held yesterday involving stakeholders including the landowners and representatives of government. The parties have defined a pathway to resolve the causes of the dispute and agreed to work in a renewed spirit of cooperation to conclude the review of the Integrated Benefits Package.
Mining operations have recommenced and the processing plant is ramping up.
