African Gold Group, Inc. Intercepts 125 Meters of 1.04 g/t Au from Surface & 90 Meters of 1.29 g/t Au-Both Holes End in Mineralization-at Kobada, Mali

04.11.2010  |  Marketwire

TORONTO, ONTARIO -- (Marketwire) -- 11/04/10 -- African Gold Group, Inc., ('AGG' or the 'Company') (TSX VENTURE: AGG) is pleased to report the analytical results for 35 near surface (oxide) reverse circulation ('RC') drill holes, of which 14 holes represent northern step out holes and 21 holes represent infill holes contained within the northern region of the Zone 1 gold deposit, at Kobada, Mali.

Near Surface (Oxide) Drill Highlights Include:

RPA10-065: 125 m @ 1.04 g/t Au, Hole Ends In Mineralization
RPA10-075: 90 m @ 1.29 g/t Au, Hole Ends In Mineralization
RPA10-057B 74 m @ 1.05 g/t Au
RPA10-073 52 m @ 1.23 g/t Au
RPA10-057C 34 m @ 1.58 g/t Au
RPA10-061 34 m @ 1.35 g/t Au

Table 1 below depicts significant intercepts in 34 of 35 holes being reported in this release. The table is split into two segments. A drill hole location map and select cross sections can be viewed at www.africangoldgroup.com :

-- Step-out for holes immediately to the north of the 2008 43-101 resources
estimate where drill holes were collared on Sections 1550S to 1350S for
a total of 200m of additional northern strike length;
and
-- In-fill for holes drilled within or immediately adjacent, laterally, to
the 2008 43-101 resource block.

The step-out holes north of Zone 1, that are being reported in this release link to mineralized holes previously drilled even further north on Sections 1200S and 1100S (reported March 24, 2010)

Which, in total, would add approximately 450m of strike length to the 1.2 km long 2008 43-101 resources estimate.

Near Surface Drill Highlights From The Previously Reported More Northerly Holes Include:

KBRC09-017 8 m @ 6.13 g/t Au, Hole Ended In Mineralization
KBRC09-020 8 m @ 7.74 g/t Au & 21 m @ 4.89 g/t Au, includes 1 m @ 77.99 g/t
Au
Hole Ended In Mineralization

'Since 2009, AGG has used Leachwell analysis with a 2-kg aliquot which significantly reduces the 'nugget effect' previously encountered with the 50-g fire assay technique. In-fill holes confirmed the width of the mineralization and Leachwell increased the continuity of the mineralization in the northern portion of the resource block. In addition, Leachwell has increased the grade of the mineralization, especially at low cutoff grades.

Re-logging of 2006 and 2007 AGG diamond drill cores indicated the presence of a significant amount of tension gashes perpendicular to the strike of Zone 1. Holes at an azimuth of N015 degrees and N0195 degrees were drilled to test the frequency of occurrence of the tension gashes and their grade. Quantification of the tension gashes could lead to an increase of mineralized tonnage,' reports AGG Director, Pierre Lalande, P. Geo.

Notes:

1) Step out holes to test for extension to the North of Zone 1 are drilled
perpendicular to the strike

2) In-fill holes drilled a N290 degrees azimuth are perpendicular to Zone 1
strike

3) In-fill holes drilled in other azimuth are designed to test for the
density of occurrence of mineralized tension gashes perpendicular to
Zone 1 strike

4) Significant drilled intercept have a minimum length of 3m at 0.3 g/t or
the product 'Length X Grade' greater than 0.9 g.m/t

5) Up to 5m of horizontal 'waste' included within mineralized intercept

Sampling - QA/QC Program

RC cuttings are recovered at the bottom outlet of the RC rig cyclone into 50-kg capacity poly-weave bags to recover the cuttings from each 1 meter of drill penetration. Each one meter sample weighs an average of approximately 19 to 23 kg. Each sample is passed through a 3-tier Jones Riffler (1 to 8 split), the samples are riffled twice to obtain from 3 to 5 kg of cuttings which are put in a numbered sample bag. Each bag is sealed and dispatched to the ALS Chemex laboratory located in Burkina Faso. The remaining 14 to 18 kg of cuttings (field rejects) are stored in camp under tarps to protect the bags against the elements.

Original samples are analyzed using Leachwell on 2 kg of pulp. Leachwell is a bottle roll cyanidation procedure with the addition of a catalyst to speed up gold dissolution. A QA/QC program is in place and includes: blank (1 in 20 samples), duplicates (1 in 20), standards (1 in 20), external lab checks (1 in 30) and two different analytical procedures check (1 in 100).

African Gold Group, Inc., based in Toronto, Canada, is engaged in the identification, acquisition and exploration of prospective gold projects that are situated along significant gold trends within West Africa. To date, the Company controls a total of twelve gold concessions that are consolidated in five distinct standalone exploration projects, of which three projects are located in Ghana and the remaining two are located in Mali, West Africa.
